Well I had a slight set back on the rear end. The shop that was going to do the work just keeps putting me off. So I told them I was going to go else where. Thought about finding someone in Portland, and then I heard about an old drag race guy that has a shop out in the country. He works on old school stuff. Still has some drag cars and does a little outside work to keep him busy. Told him about my problem and what I needed done. Told me to bring it out Tomorrow and he would get it done. YEA!!! Finally. He has offerd to help me on some other things also. Really nice shop and nice guy. I was impressed with some of the things in his shop!

Those heads look brand new now. Did you get the 2.02 intake valve unshrouded in the chamber? I can't tell from that distance.

Yes, he did the intake. Very slighty, not as much as I've seen some done, but a nice clean job.

Went out this morning and looked at the Camaro's diff all torn apart. Said everything looked good and the old parts were in pretty good condition. He went with a Tru-Trac by Detroit, said he felt that my use of the car and that I only plan on the drags a couple of times it was the better choice. And of course 3.42 gears, not sure what brand he used. but from what I know of him it wasn't anything cheap. Looks like it might cost me less than the first guy quoted me. I'll be gone for a couple of days so I can't get the car till next Tuesday.

Due to the fact that I had no one to go with me today I could not bring the camaro home. BUT, I did get to take it for a drive. What a difference the 3.42's made. We will bring it home tomorrow, so I'll get to see how it is on a longer drive.

Probably one of the best upgrades you could have made! The 3.42 is a great choice for all around driving, and as you discovered, a marked improvement in performance over the tall gears you swapped out!
