Default Camerica's 1981 Z28 Build (Very Picture Heavy)

Well men, it is time. I have heard the calling of the people and though it has taken me a while to amass more than 3 posts(all of 2 days... that is a long time), the time has come for me to start my build thread. I recently bought this 1981 Camaro Z28 from a young man who shall be called David. He and his baby mama were having some drama and she told David that his car had to go. Enter in myself... I am the one known as Mat. So this Mat character, played by me, found Davids post for this 1981 Z28. Naturally Mat obliged to take it off of Davids hands for the sum of two thousand and one hundred dollars. $2,100.00 for those of us like Mat who has to write it down to understand it. And thusly a hero was born. Mat drove it all the way home with one headlight, open headers, and lacking a proper license plate. He lit the grass on fire once and even managed to make his wife think it was on fire. But now she sits there in the yard, staring longingly into the great beyond with here one headlight yearning for Mat to return from work and tinker on her. Okay, I am done with the story. Now the meat and potatoes. I have already gotten all of the hardware for the headlights as well as everything to rebuild the holley 600 carb that has a float hanging open. I am going to do a brake job and change the oil this weekend with a full synthetic royal purple change, and I have ordered an 8 point cage, vacuum canister, master battery disconnect, 2 flowmaster delta flow super 40s, and a new door handle. I also have vortec heads on the way with traction bars and sub-frame connectors. Lets upload some pictures shall we?

As you can see, she is definitely a work in progress, but progress she will.

Heh heh....nice story! Looks like you have one of those ultra rare "rear seat delete" models!
Are you keeping it stealth black, or does the secretary of the exterior have other special plans?

Well, I want to paint it Hugger Orange with a wide satin black stripe down the middle a little wider than the tear drop, and paint the tear drop Hugger Orange. How is that for a run on sentence? Haha, but the secretary of the exterior, or as I know her my wife, thinks blue would be much prettier. Either is better than the grey primer dusting she was going to get. The last guy was going for a "getaway car theme" and was going to dust grey primer on top of the black so it would "match the color of asphalt" and he couldn't be seen at night.

Well, I was looking forward to tagging her on monday, but I just read the safety inspection requirements and man, let me tell you. I have to have all of the "original factory smog equipment" on it. Considering the 350 is out of a 1969 Chevy C20, I don't think that will work out for me. Time to find some shady dudes with green eyes. Wink wink
