Over the next little while I'm going to install the 81 Z rear end into my 79 Base Camaro. I bought from a guy a complete rear with a Aurburn pro Posi, 3.73 gears, factory rear sway bar, moroso adj. 3way shocks and slapper bars. Finally going to get it all done at once instead of slowly piecing it together. Need to clean and paint everything first before it goes in, also might drop the gas tank and paint it while I'm back there. I read it needs to come down to get the leaf spring bolts out. Only thing up front I have install is the chrome tach on the hood up by the windshield, I could do it now but why bother ill just wait and make up a real nice bracket so I don't damage the paint or hood. Will post some pics as I go along with the change over.

 

Gas tank wont need to be dropped, unless you want to re-use the factory bolts and shackles. I chopped mine off with a sawzall, and then made new shackles, and bought new bolts. Put the nuts in towards the tank on top, and no need to drop the tank. Unless you just want to clean and paint it.
