Yes, I went black with bare aluminum heads on my engine. Polished aluminum intake, and black headers. I like black on the headers, as it helps dissipate heat, and doesn't show the dirt as much. My Austin has silver headers, and it's a chore to keep them looking fresh.

I have ceramic coated headers on my 85 Camaro and never had any issues with them.

Once I place the order for the engine, I have 12 months lead time. I think I better hurry up and place my order!!!

I think it's not a case of the ceramic coating, but the color they're coated in. Some colors just get dirty easier.

I'm hoping to get mine ceramic coated black. I take them off each spring and clean them, and repaint. I find they seem to continue to get slight rusting over the winter, and it's only on the top side where moisture can form during condensation. My other car has VHT painted silver headers, and never any moisture or rust issues. I may have to give in to silver, or get them coated.

I have the headers silver coated with the rest all stainless steel. The temperature decreases rapidly aft of the headers compared to the headers area.

Default heavy front re-bar 78-81

I'm building a pro street 78 z28, does anybody have a solution for the heavy front bumper rebar? If I delete it, there wont be enough support for the urethane nose that extends quite far forward.

Yeah, go to work at it with a hole saw. It's a good way to get a race car to shed weight.

Please correct me if I am wrong, the 1980 second gen is without that heavy metal in the front. The nose is of fiberglass. You can replace the original urethane with a glassfiber one. I will go for a fiber one.

Good luck on your build mate.
