Nice looking car, that blue must have been a popular color for 81,mine is exactly the same color and i've seen several others the same.Your interior even looks just like mine, faded in all the same spots haha.As for the block yes they were light blue in 81,i think it's called gm corporate blue,my 305 is that color.

Blue would fit right in with the car and the color for that year. I personally would go with a dark blue, just to be different, but that's me!

Well i picked some more paint up today and painted those interior panels, i dont like the blue to much plus i couldnt find a proper match of colour for it so i wanted to mix it up anyway. I think it will look good, i have black seat covers, carpet and console also so it wont be a complete clash lol.

I already have a couple sets of these but i seen them on a local kijiji (no pics), i called the guy he brought them over and i seen the one was cut for some stupid reason? but i took them anyway, i figured $25 was a decent price for long tube hedman headers, pretty solid too, im gonna paint them the same colour as the ones on my 80 (flat black) and install them on this car.

Only half my interior is black and the other blue, i'll be putting it back in later on and i'll take some pics but eventually it will go all black unless it's gone by then, i had a few good offers on it but my 80 is not done so i don't know lol.

Joe, the headers were probably cut between ports to make them line up properly with the bolts on his head. Used to be very common practice to cut them between ports to make them fit properly, and avoid leaks from ill fitting flanges. Really spendy headers came from the factory with center ports separated from outter ports and they sealed much better.
I cut my Doug Thorley headers apart between ports and they seal perfectly. I went 25 yrs. on my first set of gaskets, and I'm at 10 years on this set.
I'd cut the other flange too, and then clean up the cuts. Make them about 1" from the bolt holes, and get rid of the extra flange between them. You'll have great sealing headers.
