you are totally right, but i'm young and people have been telling me for years i wont finish or get rid of that junk or waste of time/money etc. bud im the type of person to use that as fuel to work even harder just to throw it in their face when im done lol, but mostly because of my love for the hobby.
but i will do what you said to the rotors, thanks for your advise i really appreciate all of.
and by the way, i dont care what anyone say's your car is awesome, i would love to have it or one similar to it. I liked it when it was white but now it is just gorgeous.
thanks again

Thanks Joe! You've got the right attitude! As long as you build something that you enjoy, it's really unimportant who else approves, or likes it. Of course it's always nice to get positive comments, but it's most important to build something that puts a smile on your face.

hello, This is my 1980 Z28 Resto thread, i would first like to clerify that the car is my first project and it is not going to be a showroom car, just a daily driver.
Let me tell you a bit about her, 350 sbc runs but needs rebuild, th400 fireball tranny, limited slip rear, sub frame connectors and rear air shocks.
She was my cousins car he had restored in 1995. He had the car of my dreams (now i do lol). he baught the car from a police auction, the car's prior owner had gotten shot with a shotgun inside the car. My cousin had baught a T/A to partialy swap the interior, and it was brutal, it originally had white interior lol (imagine the mess, i'll have to get a scanner to put some of the pics up).
He ended up taking the motor out to put in his stock car, and selling me the car for $1300. he sold the stock car to someone and away went the original block for my car
3 years later (had the car for like 10 yrs) i baught a motor off of some guy for $250 to put in my car. He said it was a 350 sbc and i beleived him and purchased before checking the #'s and finding out it was a 305. along with disappointement i had no place to put it so i just dropped the ugly 305 all stock into my car and i was discuraged and it just sat there (i also didnt have a garage) for years. A couple years ago i ran into this man and by fluke it was the guy who baught the stockcar from my cousin and i made a deal with him and got the motor off of him for an 84 camaro 2.8 all rusted out
So i had the garage now and the ambition so im back at it, slowly but surely.
Anyway enough gab here she is (where she sat for years)
This is when i got it into a garage, i put the rims i picked up on (just to see lol)
This is the colour im going with but maybe with 3 diff shades of flourecent green stripes.
I will post more pics once i make them smaller.

well still no bodyman, so i did some other stuff that needed to be done with the rad support.

after
prob do the firewall tomorrow? and i still have to replace the support mounts.

Thanks man, and by the way sweet car loved the video and the sound of it, any ideas on paint yet?
But yeah im gonna get to the headers soon just still not sure what color to go and if i should. they are ceramic coated headers and i was told not to sand them, and if i paint them i dont want the paint to just chip off easily. i was thinking a light sand and white paint so if it does fade or chip you wont notice it as much but i like the black on the orange motor?
any suggestions on the headers?

well still not sure what to do with the headers but i did some work today (still no bodyman), i worked on more of the engine bay, mainly the firewall.
Same process, wire brush, sand, air, clean then paint.
heres a few pics of the engine bay and some process.
still up for some ideas on the headers, any suggestions before i might ruin them lol?

You're really gettin with that project Joe! Ideas for the headers....like maybe ceramic coating, or powder coating? I'd go with ceramic coating if it's in the budget, other wise I'd just sandblast or wire brush them and paint them satin black with high heat paint.
Another suggestion! While you've got the car this far apart I'd pull the heater housing and remove the heater core to either replace (under $50) or inspect it closely and reinstall if it looks pretty new. It's an all day job once you've got everything assembled again.
Wish somebody here had a oval master cylinder! I see your's is rectangle. I changed mine out and it's square on one end, and round on the other. I've got a good oval chrome cover for an early 2nd gen I'd love to give to someone who could use it!

Sandblast those headers. You can get high temp primer and high temp paint in a bunch of colors. I have a darker silver and a lighter silver so far for my brake calipers and rotors and drums that I plan on painting coming up here.
