I think I'm going to start now that I have the speedo, replaced with getting some MSD wires and new plugs. Any suggestions?

 

Just remember your buying plugs for the engine year. Not the car. Pull one and see what the number is. Otherwise the dork at the parts store will try and sell you plugs for a 79 Camaro.

 

After reading and starting to clean up the interior. I have changed my mind. I just want to get some minor facial details done. Then I want to make that engine into a beefy hot rod. I had a lot of fun the other day learning in the engine compartment with a friend, then took it for a spin, and love the way it picks up and move!!

 

A tune up never hurt anyone. Filters and plugs, wires, cap and rotor. change the oil then make her pretty.

 

Update. So I was able to get in there and these are the numbers I pulled.

Enginge: 10243880
Transmission: 3925660

Looks like a Muncie and ZZ4. Cleaned up the interior. Ordered a new seat track for the driver side. A new seat to replace the crap upholstery. I'm now tacking a upholstery brush and getting all this "spackle" tan paint. Looks like someone was painting around or in it and splattered it with paint. Next replace all the ghetto mix match lug nuts on the tires.

 

I think it's a very good plan to try and keep a project car as driveable as possible if you can. Being able to drive it as you work will keep you interested, and enjoying it more. I see far too many people who tear their cars down to nothing and then get down on the projects. They remain dormant for years and sometimes end up sold when interest is totally lost.
Mine sat for 11 yrs., but it was still 100% together, so it was not a ton of work to get it back on the road when I regained interest in it. Had I torn it apart, I might not have kept it. Might have been somebody else's project to reassemble.

 

Yea i got a windows keep it drivable. So getting some new plugs and msd wires, and then maybe some bolt ons that can add some horse power

 

Wanting to put in 8mm wires and a set of ac delco iridium 41-993, but are there any comparable plugs that are not 6.50 a plug?

 

Don't get caught up in the hype of exotic spark plugs. Buy whatever is a name brand and a average plug. AC, Champion, NGK, Autolite, etc. are all good and will cost less than $2 a plug at most retail auto parts stores.
Those AC Iridium plugs wont do anything to make you engine run better, or longer between plug changes.

 

AC Delco R43TS or R45TS. I usually run the 45's. There 2 bucks at Autozone. I agree no need to reinvent the wheel on plugs. Even the ones they swear make more power and better fuel economy on HorsePower TV, I just can't believe it.

I have yet to see a Top Fuel team in the pits with anything other than a regular shaped plug. Mostly Champion Race Plugs. Or NGK.

BTW Autolights are now officially Chineseum.
