1979 Project. First ever for me.
LOL I was just giving you a heads up. I wasn't trying to make it sound like you shouldn't try the older seat. I have sets of both. I have 78's with the hard back and 80's with the soft back. I see no difference in the seat itself.
I even made brackets to make my seats sit farther back (I'm 6'4" and 220lbs). Camaros are a little snug on me. The seats are the same physical shape.

Why not just get new upholstery from NPD and cover them yourself? Buy a pair of hog ring pliers and they aren't hard to do. I did mine years ago, and was surprised how simple it was. Tossed them one at a time in an old pillowcase and tied it shut, then put it in the dryer for about 5-7 min. Pulled it out and they slipped right on and contoured to the seat easily, then just hog ring them down.
My buddy who made the new upholstery for the Camaro told me the trick, and it sure made installation a snap!
I'm sure she wont mind the smell!
