1971 Camaro continuing project
Had to get up in the rafters of the garage and stuff some packing material into the roof vents! I had my 35,000 btu propane heater going and it was still cold in my one car garage. Once I stuffed the vent closed the temperature in the garage got comfortable to work in!
Almost hate to mention this, but sold my '71 today. I've probably driven it 2-3 times in the last 3 years, and hated seeing it just sitting. I figured it was time to move it along to someone who would enjoy it more, and drive it more. The new owner seemed very excited to find it, and drove a couple hours north to buy it. I'll give him the 40 years of receipts and original owner's paperwork when he brings the cash.
Not sure what will replace it yet, but I'm itching to build another car from scratch, so keeping my eyes open for a suitable project car to start over on.

Not sure if I should be saying congrats here or not Vall?
I know you've said that it was a possibility before but in total honesty, didn't think you'd be able to pull the trigger on the sale! I am happy for you though if this gives you a chance to get at another project that you're wanting to do. Just let us know if we'll need to join a diffrent forum to see the progress! Should we be calling you Austin now??
Seriously though, congratulations.

It surely wasn't sometthing spur of the moment. I've considered it for a couple years, even as I continued making upgrades, but I needed some of those upgrades to really finish it prior to selling or keeping it.
I stuck it on the local CL and got one call from a guy who wanted to trade a very nice '65 Chevelle Pro Street with a 496 stroker. Worth much more than the '71, but I'm not into the Pro Street thing, so I passed. 2nd call was the guy who came and bought it. He was very excited, and not a young kid. He didn't even drive it; just looked it over and asked many questions, and listened to it run. He was going to leave and think about it, but made me an offer that was close to my advertised price, so I agreed.
It's been for sale for a week, and I was surprised it got so few calls in that time, especially seeing there's rarely more than 1-2 for sale locally, and those needing restoration are asking a few thousand less than my finished car.
If or when I buy another car, I'll post any build thread in the OT recreational section. I have nothing in mind now, just needed to make room as the Camaro was being stored in the outside canopy where I built the Austin, and I could see the damp-cold climate was beginning to take it's toll in corrosion on aluminum parts, and spiders nesting on the newly painted undercarriage. Didn't want all my work to be in vain, and have to redo it. It's sad, but it needed to be done, as I just didn't use the car at all.

I would bet not one person realized it had a dealer installed BB. I wish you would hav e let us get a crack at. I get pretty large tax returns ya know. I would have bent backwards, including selling my current project for yours.
Good luck. Now kick rocks... LOL just kidding.

Well that's a good question Chuck. Not really certain what to do with this thread. Not sure I want to even see it in the future, but there might be info that would be useful to members, so I wont delete it. But your name change might be more appropriate.
