If your NADA book is current, and it's the proper book for your car, then the prices are pretty close. Like with any source it's only a close guesstimate, not cast in stone. One needs to adhere closely to the format to ensure you're using it correctly.
For instance on a '71 Camaro that's a Z28 you need to be sure what you have is close to ttthe book. Various items and condition will determine how close your car is to the book listing, and some of that is detective work, while some is subjective. I've looked at cars I thought were average, and the owner thought it was excellent, so who's to decide?
I've also looked at cars that I knew had non factory major parts changed, but the owner insisted they were original.
So it's a good source if you're honest with yourself, and conservative in your estimate of condition.

Well how about an unbiased opinion then.

I have a 71 Rally Sport. matching numbers car.
3504V, 350 trans, factory posi, factory A/C
Rotessorie restoration. All NOS rear clip, so no rust issues what so ever. Flawless Sikkens pain job. perfect new interior
Any idea what you would place the value at?
I posted this pic before, I need to take a few of the engine, underside, and interior

Suckers are born every minute. I am not sure how much you want for your car but I'd be willing to bet there is a number rattling around in your head. Did you check E bay and get an idea of what simular cars are selling for? I watch alot of tv auctions. Meccum and barret Jackson to be specific. IMHO I think the numbers those cars get is outragous. Do you have any documentation to back up your claims? Pics of the resto.

The guys here are the real deal when it comes to numbers matchin concours type cars. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31g I hope they can give you some ball park numbers. Good luck

Thats why I asked about the NADA book values. For my model there is the following

Fair 19,900 Good 29,900 Excellent 39,900

The cars on ebay are all Z28's, very rarely do you see an RS
I know an RS wont bring the money a Z gets.
I could put Z28 emblems on it and call it a "clone" but refuse to do that
I have a whole book of the restoration process as well
and I even still have the GM part stickers on the quarters if you look at them from inside the trunk.

Well I wouldn't hesitate to class your car in the "excellent as restored categorie". I know that there's a difference between excellent, and restored to excellent, but I don't see a lot of difference in prices.
As for how it compares to the NADA prices, I'd say look at Ebay, and see what the completed auctions go for similar cars.
Around my area a early 2nd gen RS is desireable, but I don't see RS or Z28's getting $40,000 or even close. Really minty 70-73 Camaros around here are more in the $20-$25,000 range for RS's and Z28's. The first gens will get those $35-$40,000 price tags for RS, SS, or Z28 models in minty condition here.

Honestly I cant see me getting 20k for my RS. I have looked on ebay and they just arent bringing any money at all. Not to insult any of the sellers on ebay but the Rally sports i do see for sale on there all need work and arent in the condition mine is in
I may be putting my 71 on ebay soon. Then i will know whats its worth. I had it for 15 years and its time to move on. Would love to put the money towards a 67 corvette coupe.
Next time i have the car out of the garage i will post engine and interior pics
