What did you do to your camaro today
#932
I started cleaning my garage up for when I get mine back from paint. I'd like to do some sprucing up. Maybe some paint and posters. Definitely need to do some sheetrock repairs. Flying tools and runaway cars can do some damage. LOL.

Any idea when your's is coming home from paint, or is it still too early to tell?
After a break from bodywork I started back on it again today. The r. rear fender looked like 10 miles of bad road, so I pulled it off and worked it over with hammer and dolly. Now it's just a skim coat on the whole thing, then lots of sanding and repeating. The repeating is because I can never get the sanding or filling right the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time.
Also welded in a piece under the nose. The whole bottom was a catch all for water and dirt, so it was pretty flimsy. I cut the rusty thin metal out, then used a piece of inner rear wheelwell from my neighbor's old 59 Chrysler. With a little hammering and welding it fit perfectly, and was a pretty close match to what came off the nose.
Also pounded out a few other spots, but not going to move on to stripping and filling those until I get the worst fender done.

Went back on the bodywork today, and finally finished the r. rear fender and shot some hotrod black on it for now.
Then moved on to finishing the nose, and roughed in one small dent on the driver's side near the trunk.
After that I fired up the welder and removed the rear door handles, then welded the holes shut. I'll open the doors from inside, and rarely use the rear doors with no backseat, so figured I'd like it better with them gone. It was a pretty easy job compared to that stinking fender! I didn't put any filler on it yet as I need to pull the inner door panels and pound out the crease below the door handle later.

[QUOTE=Pablo63;529741]I was going through some old Hot Rod mags this evening Vall and came across an article on a 48 Austin gasser(March 1968). It had a pretty cool wheelie bar set up. Thought you might like to check it out.

I remember when Jim Oddy and a few others came out with those early style wheelie bars, and thought they were weird back then. Now they actually look kinda cool in an old school way!
Thanks for posting the article too! It's cool to see Jim's old '48 Austin again, and read what they wrote about it.-Vall

Got rained out today, cleaned my garage, put alot of stuff back in the attic. Then spent a bit more time cleaning up the 327. I need to pressure wash it next, then try to figure out if I need to have it magnafluxed. I wish I just knew where there was a place where I could get it done locally, I'd just do it...

Found a place to shot peen my stuff. $50 for the block and heads, I should get the crank done too I suppose. I also found a place that will Magnaflux for me. $50 for a block, $20 for each head, and $20 for the crank. So, now I have a decision to make. Do I want a 327, or a 350 that all of that stuff has been done to, with a new rotating assembly from crank to rods to pistons... Sigh.
I really need to start doing some side jobs again.

This hotrodding isn't cheap, is it? I'm constantly looking for sources of funds to subsidize the hobby, and even more so since I retired!
Spent the day today gathering up all the scrap wire I collected while I was working last year and stripping the big stuff out. Hopefully the 8-55gal. drums of wire will fund the future projects for awhile!
The trailer looks heavy enough to go a long ways towards more parts!

well today i looked at her when i drove in, and laughed at the fact that 2 months ago she was drivable, and now she is missing the engine and trans, its alright though, i got to get my 83 camaro done, so i can do the 79 up right, im going with a stiff rat rod/gasser look, kind of inspired by 2 lane black tops 55, minus the I beam axle up front and or jacked up high, but primer gray, stripped down to 2 seats, bare floor, a 4speed, and a chevy 400? or find the rare 302, i havent decided, but all i know is, im excited to see them come together soon. very excited for the 83 camaro though
