I'll try to get some this weekend. 2nd headliner I've done, (first was the '71 Camaro) and first one I've ever built from scratch. I learned some things I'd do different about building it, but installing them is not as scarey as I thought.

Brownstone,
The door panels are masonite, or what's referred to as hardboard. I did all the doors and other trim inside with one 4'x8' sheet. It's like pegboard without the holes, one side smooth and the other a bit rougher. Cheap at $6 a sheet at my local lumber yard. The black naugahyde was $6.50 a yd. at the fabric house, and it's attached with 3M77 spray glue. Spendy at $15 a can, but it goes a long way and works fantastic.
Make sure you've got a clean, flat surface to work on first. I used the garage floor with old cardboard down to protect my material.
I cut patterns off my old door panels by tracing them on the hardboard, then cutting them with a circular saw for straight lines (using a fine tooth panel blade) and making the rounded cuts with the jigsaw. Then sand the edges, lay the panels on the vinyl back side and mark with a felt pen, cut around the vinyl about 1.5" larger. Spray glue the smooth side of the panel, and the vinyl, immediately lay the board on the vinyl, turn it over and smooth it down with a clean rag. Turn it back over and spray the edge of the vinyl and the edge of the board. Then start by pulling the vinyl snug along the straight edges, and then work the corners over by starting in the midle and pushing it down in segments. It will wrinkle badly in the back when it creates excess material that stands up. Don't worry about it, just get it all stuck down and pull it tight so the edges are smooth from the front. When it's all stuck down I go back with a razor knife and cut the excess material off by making a cut along each side of the excess, then just pull it off and smooth the rest down again.
I used the washer head screws on my doors that were $22 for a box of 100, but if I did this on the Camaro I would drill round holes in the panels before covering to use the factory clips that fit my doors, but still use the screws where needed. I actually like the looks of the washer head screws on the doors, as they look kinda old school. Cars used to all be done with them, but nobody uses them much anymore.

I used them on the T/A. For the door panel no less. I did use a flat head self tapper with it though.

I predrill all my holes as it's easy for a screw to grab the material and twist it until it tears before I can stop the motor. I like self tappers for a lot of other things on the car though!

i think in the next week or so i might have door panels on my car. im tired of not having them. it will really clean up alot of problems and ugly-ness.

gona copy valls setup there. im just useing 1970s style door panels as templates since i have the upper arm rest half of it. then gona get heavy door handle pull strapping and use that as a door handle clean and neat.

I used Chevelle door handle/armrests for my '71 when I did the door panels. I don't care for the full length armrests on 2nd gens, so wanted something different for mine.

Those look like the pulls in my old Silverado. All those are broke just like the Camaro ones. Would have thought the general would made them last longer.

Here's a pic of my door handles, used with stock type door panels, but they'd look good with flat panels too.

Those look right at home. I prefer to grab the top of the window channel when ever possible. Its a habit. I have had a lot of cars with broken pulls I guess. Plus I'm a knuckle dragger. Ya know window down arm hanging out. At 6'4" my arms look like there gonna hit the ground while driving.
