What did you do to your camaro today
Thanks brown, I kinda feel the same way. As ugly as some people might find it's appearance I still think it's beautiful. Most people when they hear/see it are like, "What the ?????"
And me, well I'm like,

same, mine is a ugly rustolium semi gloss-painted 79 camaro, its ugly and un done but its freakin awesome to me. i love-hate the show pretty cars, they are awesome but so over done, and i feel they put on parts that are less reliable in expense to looking awesome. its not about how it looks to me as much as that seat of the pants feeling rock solid reliability.
Picked up all the materials to do the interior of my Austin today. Went to the local Fabric Depot and got 4 yds of naugahyde, 3 yds of black carpet, and 3 yds. of headliner material. Grand total of $75 for all, plus $14 for hardboard to make the door panels from.
So under $100 for all the interior materials. I'll get the carpet installed first, then do the door panels, and make the headliner last. Doors will be smooth black naugahyde wrapped over the panels and held on by chrome washer head screws. Headliner is also black, and attached to existing wooden bows by hidden staples like the original was.
Still need to pull all the inside window trim and repaint it from red to black. we've got our polar bear run this Sunday, and I'll at least get the carpet done before then.

Went out today and got plates for the Austin so I can start driving it. Guy at DMV was super helpful, and saved me a ton of bucks! I got antique plates that cost just $66 and never need renewing ever!
Also got some pics taken of the interior to date. This is the Home Depot floor insulation. The little dark spot in front of the pass. seat is the battery disconnect switch:

This is the back area that I built plywood panels for. Just some old scrap wood I had lying around. Still needs the same sound deadener applied:

Looks good so far val,you will have that whole car done before i even hit the half way point on my camaro haha.Gotta love the one time price of the antique plates,i had them on an old truck i had years ago, when they told me $60 and they were good forever i hurried up and got those. What type of stipulations do they put on those tags in Oregon? When i bought mine, they said you could'nt put more than 500 miles a year on the vehicle, and that you were only supposed to drive on them if you were going to a car show or in a parade, yeah right,i doubt anybody here in Ohio follows that rule haha.
Oregon has two types of plates that have the same rule. Special Interest plates are anything over 25 years old, and Antique plates that are for any car that's older than halfway between WWI and the present date.
We have no mileage rule in Oregon, but the car cannot be driven to and from work, and not for errands. It's supposed to be used for car events, meetings, cruises, etc. I asked specifically if I can drive it for a simple ride, or to the auto parts store and they said that's fine, just not to the grocery store or work. Of course I asked the obvious when they said, "Not to the grocery store." Can I stop there on the way to a cruise-in to get pop and ice, and they said that's fine too. These rules apply to either plate for usage.
So it really depends on how you answer if you were stopped by a cop and asked. Had a friend who had SP plates and he got stopped on the way to the grocery store, and when asked he told the cop he was "just running to the store." and he got a big ticket. That was one of those DUH answers.

That may be about the same as here then, other than our milage rule.I know what you mean about the cops though. When i had my old truck,we were moving to a new house,it was a project truck, but i was'nt going that far so i figured i would drive it instead of having it towed.About half way there,it quit running at a red light, and while trying to get it started a cop came up behind me,asked what was wrong, then about the plates.I got really lucky to not get a ticket, especially when i took my seat belt off to get out,and the seat wasnt bolted down and fell out on the street haha, luckily he just shook his head, kinda laughed, and told me to get back in and he used his cruiser to push me into a parking lot.Never chanced it again though, lol.
