After 5 days of fishing and deer hunting, I got back on the Austin project.
Got the front axle torn down and installed the bushings and set the bearings, etc. to finish after mockup. Today I went to the neighbor's house and we loaded the 327 into my truck to haul it home.
Got the fenderwell headers bolted on for mockup and dropped the engine into the bay. Looked like it wouldn't set back far enough to clear the radiator, so I scribed the side of the body inside the fenders and got the sawzall out to open some header clearance. After a quick trim it not only set back enough, but once I have the short water pump installed it will be able to move forward about 1.5" and still clear the radiator. (without a fan of course)
It's just sitting on wooden blocks now, but I can measure up for fabricating motor mounts, and build them. Had the leftover Moroso solid steel motor mounts that wouldn't work on my '71 Camaro project, so they will be perfect for the Austin.
Need to trim the floors a little more to accomodate the TH350 before I drop the engine back into the frame, and box in the body where I clearanced for the headers.

Oh my. That is gonna be fun to drive. I am lovin the go kart on steriods vibe. TUNNEL RAM I had a brand new dart tunnel a few years ago I got in a trade and sold for 50bucks. If I still had it I would almost give it to you, dang.

As for my car I ordered a new set of stainless brake lines from inline tube. After they get here I'll polish them at my dads shop. So now I have fuel brakes and electrical pluming and then I can go for a spin.

Thanks Damon! I've got a polished Holley Pro Dominator with twin 450 Holleys on it. I wont install it until I get it all done and running. Once it runs I'll pull the intake and swap the tunnel ram and distributor too. I've got a small GM dizzy with Pertronix inside that will clear the tunnel ram.

Got the motor mounts built today, so she's sitting on her own now! Now I need to pull it back out and bolt the TH350 on the engine and then I can fab up the tranny crossmember.

got my engine timed, put a hood on my car it pretty much bent in the middle cause it was rusted out, then put my original hood back on, took out my a/c cooler that was blocking air flow to the rad, put hood pins in, checked fluid levels.

I ran my fuel line, for those who wonder how much you might need. I ran mine in the stock location except its -8 and used 3/4 hold downs. It took almost 20ft. I have about four feet still at the end but havent put a tank in yet. I post pics in my progress later. I also got a box from inline tube. All my prebent stainless brake lines came. I'm happy and bummed at the same time on this one. There great looking lines but they have the same spring deals over the tubing preventing me from polishing the tubes, oh well.

Got my frame mounts done. The bolts were just to hold it until I got it all gusseted and welded in. They'll stay, but wont do anything but fill holes now.

Also got the tranny crossmember built and installed. Like the frame mounts it was bolted and welded, but the crossmember itself has two bolts on each end for removal if needed. It's 1.75" box tubing.

Fitted in the metal around the headers and capped the open ends of the cuts all around the body opening.
