Ha, this started out as a cam question. Now were talkin blowers and turbos, 1000hp and stuff. I still think the smaller cam. Edelbrock performer. And 650 Holly. Carb and intake first. Cam later on. If the bottom end goes, fix it then. if it windows the block get another one. Switch over the carb and intake. At least you'll know how to install a distributer when your done. Gaskets are less $20.

Haha, I know. I read somewhere that the nelson lsx get about 20 mpg but I don't know for which series. All this stuff were talkin about would happen way in the future, except for the little stuff like cam and intake.

So if I put a new intake manifold on will it wear out my bottom end? And will a Holley 600 fit on this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-2701, or would I need a different intake manifold?

Very few modifications will "tear out the bottom end." It's usually the change in driving habits after gaining more power that tears up an engine.
I've had friends who had good solid running engines, and then they added a set of heads, cam, intake and headers. Nothing that would really put more pressure on the lower end, but the engines made more power. Once they got the first thrill out of the increased HP, they spent more time with their foot to the floor, and with a high mileage engine they soon began to blow a little smoke out the tailpipe, and rings or bearings started to show signs of going away.
Just an intake, carb, and headers wont make your engine fail, it's your right foot that can do that.

I'm not the kind of person that stomps it every chance they get, but I'll do it every once in a while but not all the time.

More power = more temptation.
