Valve Cover Gasket Replacement
Hey all, just wondering if there is any advice on how to replace the Valve Cover Gasket, mine just blew on me and im leaking oil all over the d*** place and would like some advice on how to replace it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. D*** thing is making me crazy

Trick is to keep them in place while you install them! I use very thin thread from my wife's sewing machine to tie through the holes and hold the gaskets in place. I trim the strings once they're tied, and just leave them in place after tightening, as they wont hurt the seal.
I also use the spendy rubber sandwiched gaskets with metal shims in the middle to make them more ridgid. I've had excellent results with no leaks. They cost about $16 on my big block, but are less for a small block.

I've fought too many times before with trying to keep the valve cover gaskets in place. That's why I like the aftermarket valve cover hold downs where you screw the studs into the heads first. It dowels the gasket in place. I also prefer the silicone rubber gaskets to the cork, for their stability and re-usability.
