Default torque converter bolts...again

okay, i got shorter bolts for my torque converter. but the space for the nuts is to short for the stop nuts i bought. do you think a regular nut with lock tight is okay? or what do you think is best. thanks

absolutely not!

you need to buy the proper grade bolts for that application. use the proper bolts and then use blue loctite

well the bolt that runs through the pressure plate and the T.C. are case hardend steel. and the nut is a regular stainless steel nut. just the space in the t.c. cannot fit the nut with the nylon plastic in it. and can i use the red lock tight? i know the blue is medium strenght? thanks

i dont think the original nuts are nylon locking nuts.the original nuts have a wide base with the raised grooves built in that act as the locking mechanism.i wouldnt use the red lock tight ,maybe the blue.you get the right nut and you shouldnt have a problem.those locking nuts are a little bit taller not allowing them to slip into the pocket like they should

forgot to mention about the nuts. bowtieguy is correct about what the right nuts should look like, and I didn't know you were talking about nylon locking nuts, because I wouldn't have even thought anyone would use them in an application that sees so much heat.throw them away!

if you get all the right stuff, you will have no problems down the road. honestly, they are special application nuts and bolts for a reason

also, stay with the blue loctite
