How long is the T400 slip yoke compared to the T350? They aren't interchangeable (different splines).

shaft has to be shortened, my 80 had to be shortened as well.

I'm not sure but i think early 2nd gens had options for a th400, maybe a shaft from that would work? If you could find one lol.

Big block Camaro, and Trans Am used the TH400, so a driveline from either will work. But you may have the smaller yoke on your rearend, so might need the adapter joint to connect the driveline to your rearend. You didn't mention the year of your car. If it's an '81 it should be OK at the rear.

- I don't have one; I wanted to just lose the 27spline and buy a 32spline yolk to go on my driveshaft if I could get away with it. I have not talked with them but I plan on going through a place in town that can build custom drivelines to get the yolk but am very low budget. Thanks very much for helping and all input!!

No problem. As far as I'm aware, the big block driveshafts are the same length (U-joint center to center), but have beefier u-joints. Yes, the T400 is a little bit longer. But, the big block cars used different engine mount frame brackets, which moved the engine forward almost an inch, (in addition to rocking it to the right). That move compensates for the longer T400. I would get your T400 yoke first and mock everything up. Do a search, you should be able to find a u-joint that will adapt the T400 yoke to the T350 driveshaft. You'll have a harder time finding a complete used big block driveshaft.

Check wrecking yards for yokes. It will save you lots of money, then just get the new U joint to mate it to your driveline.

Tylor, I might be able to help you on the driveshaft. We have a 73 camaro BBC with a Th400. We're considering a beefier shaft for our car, and the old shaft. (stock) might be what your looking for. I'll know by the middle of next week, around 4/13/11 if we are having one built for us. the stocker will just be holding up the wall in the garage so, maybe we can work something out. Let ya know
