Stuck... again..
I know, it looks as if hes lowered the price a couple of times. My budget allows for a cheap daily driver "fix up as i go" if you kno what i mean.. It would basically be that way with any car i bought.. new or old.. So i figure why not go with the old...
I too would go with the second car.
Take it out for a spin and see how it does.
I've actually looked at those cars before (not in person)

isn't too bad, its in the seatlle area, and is pretty cheap.
Not sure what your limit as far as year goes, but thought i'd throw that out there. Remember seeing it when i was looking at craigslist earlier today.

hell take a battery with you..I know if I was selling a car and it ran...even if the battery was gone..I would find a way to start it up.

Hey just to for worn you spartan66 cars with vinyl tops are not the best sometimes they lock in alot of mosture if your in an area with lots of rain it could be all rusted out underthere if you do buy i would get that sucker off right away and clean it up!
Oh yeah, I was gonna ask, how hard is it to take the vinyl top off and get it to match just like a car without the vinyle? I assume id have to take the vinyl off, sand it primer it... hopefully not too hard... My plan was to buy this car, sand/prime it on my own then bring it to a friend of mine who owns a customs shop in Kent Washington and have him paint it, saving myself a couple hours worth of labor which would translate into money out of my pocket and into his.. lol.
I understand completely the situation i was in it about2 years ago now iam just painting the cars myself, i just painted my 96 camaro back to a nice stock green and repainted my 77 to a Lemans blue- both turned out well i just want to color sand and buff them both they tend to look better and i know what you mean about money being an issue iam only 18 myself so iam using every penny i get to buy supplies! i did get backed into and got a check for 560 dollars though that gave me enough money to completely repaint both cars almost i coffed up the additional 40 or w/e it was as long as you do somethign yourself it can be cheap! and remember the more time and effort you put into a paint job - ie sanding wet sanding straightning, the better its going to overall look! Oh and taking off a Vinyl top isnt necessarily hard but there are a few extra studs you will want to cut off from the trim that goes along the top and once its off you might have alot of glue or fuzzy stuff from underneat the top just try and clean it up as best you can and sand it down with a D/A and prime it! remeber priming out of a real prime gun instead of a can looks a hell of a lot nicer plus you can build experience in using a real paint gun/prime gun!
