Default Starting on project

Hi im new to the forum and camaros. I just bought a 1973 z28 , but im 18 and just started working on cars mostly ricers "self taught". I would like to know what should be the first thing to re place on mystock 1973 z28 and how to boost the power. If anyone can help a new mechanic please leave a message.

these guys are right, as for power, its got a small block but its prolly run its course, so a cheap crate motor with a strong bottom end is a start, gears, and other mods can come later. like all cars, it will be a time consuming thing, but getting a chevy was smart, parts are a dime a dozen for small blocks

depending on your budget and how many miles are on your engine a crate engine or a rebuild could give you some more power. or if thats something that can wait a set of headers and some exaust along with an aftermarket intake a edlebrock performers not a bad upgradde from stock and a holly, demon or edelbrock carb would help, an msd ignition system is another good investment basicly anything thats going to allow more air to flow in and out of the motor and burn it more eficently will give you more power and later if you get a new crate motor every thing can be swaped over to it. i use jegs and midwest motor sports for alot of my performance stuff so id check there websites out if you havent already
