Spedometer not reporting speed
OK not sure what issue is on this now. I installed new spedo gear and housing identical to original due to it leaking. I also installed a new cable. Tested cable at trans I disconnected from trans and see needle moving. So issue has to be at the tail housing. Any ideas on what I can check please?
Thanks again everyone!

I checked inside tail housing while in gear and I see it spinning in there and internal gear is purple. Should the gear on in the housing match? The one that was on it was ayellowish color. Maybe thats issue? It does seem to small to reach the gear inside tail housing.

Did you compare gear with the original. Yes the gears should be very close in diameter. The only difference should be wear.
You can put the back axle on stands and run the car Slowly in first gear with the cable disconnected at the speedo and see if its turning.

Thats the issue, I think the shaft gear may be bad, speedo doesnt spin when in gear.Talked to previous owner he said it stopped working a while back when the cable got kinked, after taking off after market cruise control system. So I am guessing the shaft gear got damaged while it was spinning and not able to spin the speedo cable.

Well replacing that gear is not a huge deal but if it was me I would just wait until I had another reason to pull the transmission. I would just use my phone till them. Many of the high end gage clusters you can buy today just use GPS anyway. All that would mean here in PA USA is you would need to leave a phone while the car was getting it safety inspection.
Also since the car has been sitting there is a chance you need to pull it due to old seals anyway. Once you get about 2000 miles on it they you know the seals have soften up as they should.
