Default Screw in studs and roller rocker question

Hey guys, I'm trying to get some 7/16 screw in studs into factory heads as to use my roller rockers. My question is with regard to milling down the stud bosses. Is there any way to install these and use roller rockers without having them cut down? I know with guideplates they would need to be cut but I had someone tell me that they don't have to be with just the screw in studs? Just trying to get this figured out before too much more work/effort goes into these and then have problems. Too much work/money to have these heads taken into a machine shop to have the stud bosses cut down and if that's the case, I'm buying new aluminum heads. Appreciate any insight anyone has on this, thanks in advance.

That's a good idea, but the closest place to do something like that is about half a state away. There's not much of anything that's "local" in Northern Michigan. I'm assuming with that suggestion you're saying the bosses should be cut down? The heads I have are good, just nothing special. I just can't justify putting more money into these (the studs, guideplates, tapping tool/tap/puller) than I already have.

No, screw in studs don't require the bosses to be milled down. They simply replace (after tapping) the straight press in stud with a straight threaded stud. Now, if you were going with a hex bottom threaded stud/guide plate setup, then the bosses have to get milled.

Good point '69. Guess I could get the straight threaded studs a lot cheaper than other routes. I've got the hex bottom and wanted to use the guideplates I bought. $90 per head just doesn't make sense for these 1.94 heads I've got. I know they're not the best, but for the money I'd have wrapped up into my heads I could get a set of the engine works/procomp heads for $550 and probably be much happier.

OR, anybody got a set of heads they want to sell?
