Default Remote control door mirror, (dumb question)

I have done a very dumb thing and need some help.

I have an 81 with the remote control drivers side mirror.

I am in the process of installing my new interior after my paint job. In an effort to make a really nice car, I have coverd the entire interior with Dynamat. Unfortuantely, I didn't mark where any of the screws on the door go.

So, I have installed the drivers side door panel. I found all the nessecary holes, (arm rest, door handle, window crank, etc), for everything except the mirror remote handle and bezel. I can't locate it for anything.

My question, did this bezel attach to the actual metal part of the door, or was it simply screwed into the door panel board?

BTW,...my new door panels are from Classic Industries.

It definitely goes on the door panel only. Mine's in pieces and I just checked.
