Default Rear end questions

What do u guys think of the chevy 8.2 10 bolt rears. i wanted to put a LSD and 3.73 gears and ive heard several stories. some people say that ill sheer off the axles, some say that its not worth putting the money into a 10 bolt that i should just buy a 12 so im considering this which brings me to my next question. if i were to buy a 12 bolt what would i have to modify like would it just bolt in and would i have to change out my driveshaft. im running a TH350 now also oppinions or info on Spools, Lockers, and LSD's would be appreciated

Well how much horsepower are you going to be producing? 3.73 gears is a GREAT compromise between speed and torque. As long as yout get a 12 bolt that came from your generation, it will drop in without modification. Detroit locker makes great differential traction enhancers. They have one that acts like a locking differential, but will still allow it to have one wheel spin faster than the other in turns only.

well i am hoping to be putting out around 400- 425 once i get a set of heads. So do you think that i would be ok with a 10 bolt or do you think that, that is too much power and that i need to upgrade to the 12 bolt.
