Default Rear axle sits sits unevenly

On my 87 the rear end sticks out the majority of an inch toward the passenger side of the vehicle. I'm not too sure what to make of it, I look under the car and don't see anything notable that might be the cause of this. I'm concerned that it makes my Camaro unsafe. Also when I hit about 55 MPH the whole car shimmy's and shakes it feels like a left to right motion from the rear. Are the two problems associated? the shaking gets quite violent at 75 or so.

Anybody out there with any wisdom for me on either subject would be most appreciated.

Maybe in the 3rd gen forum. Sounds like a sway bar problem.

u must have the car either raised or lowered in the rear. doing that pulls the rearend one way or the other. ull need a adjustable panhard bar like this to center the differential.

the rearend alignment may also be out setting it at an angle which make the car go a little sideways down the road. get it centered with the panhard bar then have a look at the alignment, could be because its not centered.

wow DONT do 70 when it shakes the whole back end can kick out then you have bigger problems than a crooked axle... like maybe dying
