Default Radiator overflow bottle / jar ? (1970 bb 396)

Hi all ! Hope y’all doing well.

One more (newby) question from me :-)

- Did 1970 SS 396 have a provision for a radiator overflow bottle / jar ?
- My car was originally in CA and now in UK. It had been fitted with a desert spec large radiator then (not sure if it is still the same). There is a nozzle coming out just underneath the radiator cap, and the rubber pipe is going into nowhere. Just hanging free behind the front nose and in front of the radiator grill. Is it normal ? Is there a possibility of overflow of coolant / water and hence over heating ?
- Should I fix a smaller overflow jar ? (Any other smaller car). Or should I get a factory spec (from 1973 on). I am not sure if I will have ample space in the engine bay though.

Please advise. Thanks in advance !

Note: I have seen some great threads on this subject on the forum and have taken some hints from there too but thought there may be some new advice or solutions available.

I don't think they had one in 1970 but you could retro-fit one easy enough.
