Default Radiator overflow bottle

I have a 1969 396 SS/RS and wanted to ask if anyone had a good recommendation on where and how to place a radiator overflow bottle.

Don't know if this is common for 396 V8's but if I top off radiator completely full it will drain out of the overflow tube from the radiator after driving. Just trying to figure a way to catch the radiator fluid.

Any suggestions on type of bottle, location to place and how to secure.

Thanks in advance for suggestion.

Are you looking for a factory replacement, or anaftermarket (aluminum, stainless steel, etc) type? Each one has it's own type ofmount, and is available.
For factorywww.classicindustries.com
For aftermarketwww.summitracing.com

Have you tried a new radiator cap? If the old cap is faulty it can create two issues, not allowing enough pressure build up in the cooling system toraise the boiling point temperatureand allowing coolant to leak. If it not a new cap I'd try that first as it's cheap and easy. You might also want to check if there are any other issues contributing to overheating, correct/functioning thermostat, dirty (inside or out)or partially clogged radiator, hoses in good condition and not pressed flat from something pressing against it or too sharp of a bend, fan clutch working properly (if so equipped), basically anything that might create a cooling issue. If you end up needing an overflow tank, I'm sure there are some generic shaped ones out there that you could fit in easily near the radiator.

your coolant system needs some room for a little air so you might actually be overfilling your radiator.

I have a roundSummit brand billet overflow, mounted right next to my radiator with two 3/8-16 polished bolts going right through my radiator support. I also have a 396 with an oversized Griffin aluminum radiator
