Default Question regarding fuel tank sending unit

Hey, everyone,

Okay, I got the tank off and then I threw it away. Well, now I don't know how the sending unit lock ring and the o-ring go on there. If anyone has done this before, I would really appreciate the help. I have everything ready to go and I just need to know how to put the sending unit in there correctly. The darn thing did not come with instructions.

Here are some pictures...

Does it go like this on the tank....

Or like this...

Thank you guys for your patience with my problems.

First, the o-ring gasket goes in the groove on the tank. Then the sending unit goes in. And then the lock ring. The ring goes on like it's shown in your last picture of it, with the tabs up. Put the ring so that the indentations fit past the tabs on the tank ring. Then, with a drift pin or equivalent, tap the lock ring by the raised tabs and spin it clockwise to drive the flange of the lock ring under the tabs on the tank. Tap the ring around (alternating to each of the tabs to keep it more centered) until the tabs on the ring meet the tabs on the tank.

Thank you very much 69.

I got it right before I read this again. I hadn't posted anything earlier because I was busy doing this darn thing. Well, once again you were absolutely right. This is how it should look once it is assembled...
