Default Price of a half decent paint job?

Gentlemen... and I use the term loosely...

What should I expect to pay for a paint job on my 80 Z28? I know the striping kits are about 250$. I checked with a local "restoration" shop, and he said their paint jobs start at 7500$. I don't think I need show quality, but want it to look good.

All over the place. Not a set price for decent paint, but it seems to run in the $3,000-$4,000 if the body is straight and doesn't need dent or rust repair.
I found a guy 3 blocks from me that did mine for $2200, and did a fantastic job.

Macco lol. do the prep yourself, get them to spray primer, do more prep yourself, and then get them to spray color. They can't be that bad when it comes to just spraying the paint.

Thanks guys...I'll keep shopping. I'm going to do as much prep as I can, but I can quickly realize whe it's time to turn it over to the pros!

Remember when tour shopping around. The price of materials alone can run over a grand. My paint is $550. 2K primer another $150. Epoxy primer $120. Then sand paper is not cheap. I'd be I'm close to $500 when I'm done. I spent $100 on my sanding blocks. $150 for a DA. $100 for a sandblaser. Plus at least that much so far in sand. Oh yeah then I'm going to need another $150 for clear coat. And finally my super cheap $150 paint gun. Its adding up.
