This is what the Rally Sport will look like when I'm finally finished with it.

Finally getting ready to restore the old girl!!!! It's only taken me 35 years to get started!!!

The Camaro had been in storage for 9 years at a friend's house. This is the day I got it back. I hadn't been able to get ahold of my friend in almost 5 years and thought I had lost the car forever! I bought the 79 Camaro Rally Sport in June of 1986 on my 18th birthday from the original owner. My new wife and my son's are the only things in this world that mean more to me than this car!!!!

That is a great back story. Good luck with the restore! Post photos after she’s back to her glory days.

Default I've got one of those

I just joined the Forum and thought I would add to this list. I bought this car in 2020. It's lived in Modesto CA. all its life. It's hot as hell there all summer and it almost never rains. The front sheet metal is all new. When I pulled the gas tank everything was rust-free even inside the gas tank. The previous owner had it for 20 years. He had it painted and added the wheels, so I bought it the way it looks now. Sub-frame connectors have been added. The entire front end from the rag joint to the spindles has been replaced. New steering gear and pump were also replaced. Plenty of time debugging this one and all of these cars if original seem to need everything touched. I'm in the process of doing that, like most of them it's a work in progress.
After the car wash

Summer of 2020

Stock calipers, drilled and slotted rotors for now. We can always use bigger brakes Right?

Nice car! I love that year too. I had the same body style and owned a Butter scotch RS with a 350 4 bbl. It was pre EPA choking the engines.
I’m in the process of hot-rodding a ‘79 Camaro Sport Coupe with some SBC goodies.
I am having a great time bolting on parts!
