Default Possible a 72 project camaro

hello im new to the forums here and ive always been a camaro fan. i really like the older camaros 1st and 2nd generation

ive been offerd a deal on a 1972 camaro with a 327 in it that the rods are knocking.

i have not seen the car yet and wanted to see if this sounds like a good deal first.

like i said its a 72 with a 327 in it rods are knocking in it not sure if its a Z28 or not or even an R/S

he says the body is in good shape and all that he is kinda kin to me through marrige.
and has built a transmission for mehes asking 800$ for the car and im just wondering.

if whould be worth this or not as of right now ive not seen it and the 800$ is the price for me.

not too worried about the motor ive got a 400 small block that i can put in it.
and have all kinds of crazy ideas down the line for a camaro when i do get one.
i havnt seen it yet and all i know it could be a pile of rust lol!!

im sure there will be some rust on it cause i live in texas an thats where the car is

not sure how long its been setting or not and i dont think the 327 ever came in the camaro. it whould be really nice if all the numbers match and stuff.
one day for sure will have a nice fuel injected 383 in it

so whould this be worth something to go look at and take a gander at??

It does not hurt to take a look at the car. If the body is in good shape and with your 400 engine that could be a very good deal for $800. Though if the body is rusted like hell, interior missing, you may want to keep looking.

Holy crap dude, if that thing isn't rusted and you don't buy it I'm going to have to kill you. $800 would be a steal for a good body and interior! and if you don't want it then send me pics, I may consider it!

yeah the 800 is my price lol i go look at it on noon sunday

we talked on the phone a while about he said its a 72 r/s

it has a 327 and has the rods knocking said the tranny shifts good the body is in good shape
and the interior has some rips in the seat and the headliner is falling in some spots so sunday ill go have a look at it
and if it is to my likeings ill load it up and a 400 sb will set in itsometime after that

the 400 i had taken to the machine shop and checked out after the oil pump stopped on me an i spun the rods.

it was bored 30 over then and there was 11 thousandths of taper wear on the cylinder walls said i couldnt go 40 so it had to be bored 60.

the crank is turend 20 over an the heads are milled 20 and new valves plus valve job ive got a 460 lift lunati cam with a 290 duration rpm ange of 2 to 6 grand

i asked him if it whould run hot he said hes done 3 others like this and they ran dang good with a good cooling set up

also the camaro is a automatic turbo 350

some questions is it hard to put newer camaro seats in the 2nd gen like electric seats or something?

That is a steal if it is not rusted away to nothing!!!

Even if it is a plain camaro, as long as the body is decent, it is worth weel over that. If it is an RS then just a few of the front end pieces are worth that much.

Let us know how it turned out!

I have a 72 and I gave 600 for it with no engine, trans, or interior in it. That was in 1996! Jump on it! If it's not something youlike you can sell it and make a buck.
