Default Please help to identify engine.

I've done some researching and I believe that this engine is a 350 from a 1973-77 Chevy Camaro. However I'm not too sure and am trying to find out as I will be selling it as well as the transmission. Im almost positive it is not the original given the awful wiring. The car it is currently sitting in is a 1979 z28 Camaro with a engine digit number "6". Please help, Thanks!

Welcome, and yes, there is an engine code number on the pass side block deck in front of cylinder head.
On this pad, is VIN from original vehicle engine came from and a code of plant location, date, and application.
These numbers can be defined at nastyZ/28.com, or do a search.

I would not spend a lot of time researching it. Just verify it is a 350 not a 305 just keep in mind there is no way you can even prove the motor or trans is salvageable. We are in a LS loving world that is sell low miles built Small block that your can hear run for $500. Seems like everyone is swapping to low buck LS motor. A 2-bolt main 350 that can be rebuilt is worth only a little over scrap value if it is a 305 then just scrap it.
