original block id
Question/Comment: I am trying to verify my block as being original, my block has been decked, in your information it says it can be retrieved...how? all the other numbers and dates look to be original. my car is a 1968 SS 396 4 speed convertible, with a build date 01A, by the oil filter it has "Hi Perf Pass" K 14 , and on the drivers side top of the block it has 3883948, more towards the middle it has GM3 conv 2 K ?? 7

Couldn't find that number as a block casting number, but did show up as an intake code...

To me it looks like you are kind of stuck if the orignal # are gone you can kind of verify that the casting # make sense for that type year of car but not that the engine is original to that car. Here is another help link http://www.holisticpage.com/camaro/goodies/validate.htmas a hint there are companies that will reproduce the code stamp but I believe a expert could still tell, it may take a bit if searching but Ido remember reading about it before.
