Should have told him that's what his girl says but they're not her first option.

That motor flat laid on its face after 4600.
It is not the heads. I would say cam. That is the only thing I haven't replaced.
I am going to build a tranny, with 3000 stall and a huge cam later in the year.

He spent 45 min messing with my timing. I am becoming friends with the dyno guy.
He owns the shop I buy everything from. I was there for 5 hours, paid $150.
We went up 2 jets in the front and 4 jets in the rear.
Timing is 14 degrees advanced. He helped a lot.
Moved the vacuum advance.
Found a metal shaving in the carb.
Tested the fuel pressure for the nitous and it is way to low. Only 2 pounds with nitous open.

Fuel pump is to small, we know that.

He wants me to call him after I drove it for a while. Seems to be running great.

Scott(Dyno Guy) seemed impressed with the numbers for a stock block. Felt it was a torque beast.
I will go up there Monday and see what he feels should be next.

Can a cam make more then like 20 hp?
Should I get a cam sooner, maybe I should get a cam sooner then later.

It is a zz4 block but all the guts were gone.
I think it is a lot smaller cam then what comes in a zz4.

I am 100% sure it needs a bigger cam, I just don't know that I can get much better numbers with a cam. How much can a cam really improve it.

Thanks to the guys who like the numbers. It is a bad *** street car and should flat launch with that torque. It's just that I want to be able to say it's 500hp not 400hp.

Can I get some cam suggestions?

With my heads I am limited to .601 in. max valve lift using G2 type pistons. I dont know whaat G2 pistons are. mine are stock. I have all the details on the heads if you need them.

I didn't say they were bad numbers. I just thought it should have built power past 4600. It is a torque monster. So with a cam I'd bet you'll be trading some for HP.

Yes, a cam can give you more than 20hp increase, but as Damon said it will probablt cost you some of that torque. It will also probably build that HP at a higher rpm, so you may have to wind the engine a lot higher to reach those extra HP you're looking for.
It's been too long since I messed with a small block to recommend a cam to give you the extrea HP you're looking for. Maybe one of the guys here with a strong smallblock can chime in.

hmm, hp sounds cool but tq is more important.
Wonder if I should leave it alone.

If I keep the rpm's down I can run more nitrous and not loose tq.
Never thought a cam would kill my tq. Guess I need to hit the
track and start asking some of the other racers. Will talk to the
dyno guy later in the week.

HP wont kill torque. but when you start striving for more HP the lowend torque will be affected. The torque on your present engine is very good, and builds at a very useable RPM range. If you push for more HP it will not mean you'll have less torque, but it will mean that torque will be at a much higher RPM range and thus you wont really feel it like you do now becaue the torque you'll have at your present rpm will be less.
