I believe this is a big block intake,I had one just like it on the 427 in my old '69. I've never seen one on a small block,we called them a twisted Torker back in the day.
Big fan of the street avenger. Keep in mind the carb will need to be tuned especial a used. It may have been played with.
I like the street avenger, its a little more street friendly and comes setup pretty nice right out of the box. My engine is about 350 hp. Nothing super fast. That with a pertronix ignitor she fires right off and idles better then I could get my old 650 Holley to run. Now if you have the budget a dyno tune will be worth it on any carb.
Yes I just would like a little more power just something that gives you that little kick back in the seat nothing crazy.
Most of the time when someone comes on here asking about EFI they are looking for drivability. Think of a new Cadillac as a 10 out of 10 for drivability. The benefit of a fully computer controlled fuel and spark system is you can have near a near 10 drivability and 600 Hp in the same car. See the new Z06 for the possibilities. So the question is "is drivability important to you?" Don't get me wrong HP comes from the engines ability to breath and its compression. Electronics just allows infinite adjustment. Carburetor are linear in adjustment is give and take. You want it to run great at 5500 RPMs its not going to run great a 2100 RPMs
For me I did not care when I was younger but as I got older and my car was seen as fun by my daughters and nephew I changed some. Watching a 4 year olds head bounce off the seat as you try really hard to let out the clutch slowly was not fun. My 67 did not like to go easy. It just liked to go. So to tame it a little I added the hotter spark and more recent designed carb with vacuum secondary's and electric chole, I backed off the timing curve a bit with heavier springs and heaver weights. this cost me 20-25 hp under 3500 hp (a guess) but my above 3500 RPMs HP is about the same. I am still no where near a 10. I would say I went from a 4 to a 6 in drivability. The perfect example of this is in 1968 GM put a 307 and a 302 in the camaro. The 307 was 210 HP and I would guess a drivability of 7-8. Quiet and smooth. The 302 Was way under rated 290 hp at 5300 RPM, it was more like 400hp at 6500 RPMs. I would guess the drivability at 2-3. Most old timers will tell you "I had a z28 but I sold it after a year". In most cases they will not remember why. They sucked as daily drives.
Long story short, If you goal is GO fast to heck with drivability the Fuel injection is a waste. If you wand to GO fast and let your wife drive it you want EFI. (I know I may get slammed for that statement)
If you want the midrange of both power and drivability don't get a single plane intake and a double pump carb with mechanical secondary's. Look towards a dual Plane and a more modern carb with a MSD spark controller then find someone with a dyno to tune it for you.
I am thinking I want to go EFI just for the convenience and yes for the wife easier for her. A buddy of mine is selling a fast kit brand new never used he changed his mind. Pretty good price. These are the part numbers have to figure out if it will work for my motor though not sure.
I have also been looking at the ACES fuel injection system wondering if anyone has used it?
I hope someone has some history with these systems. You should also look for youtube reviews. There are a lot of non-pro guys that review and install videos. Most pro channels on youtube are spoused and will not show the bad sides.
I watched the roadkill guys install a EFI system in the parking lot then drove the car across the country. It showed all the extra things that needed done even with a complete kit.
