That is a nice EFI kit but it will not give ignition control. Your car original came with an HEI ignition, but the computer cannot control it. There are benefits to being able to control spark timing. If you add in a knock sensor you can protect your motor from bad gas and you can tweak a little more fuel mileage and power out of a motor with spark control. Don't get me wrong the car will run fine without spark control you will just need to be conservative with a higher compression motor.

The fast stuff is good and you want self learning.

If it's just a Sunday nice weather driver I wouldn't spend the money on all that,it's a nice kit but a lot of money for little gain if any.
Your HEI distributor (assuming it's still the OEM) is about the most reliable ignition you can get.
What do you have for a carb and intake? If more power is your goal there may be room for improvement there at far less cost.
If it's already got a nice setup I'd say don't fix what ain't broken and spend the money on gas driving it.
That's my 2 cts.

Hey thanks for the great feed back. It’s a Holley 650 and a edelbrock RPM intake manifold

That's a decent setup, what are your goals? More power or better fuel mileage?
Do you have headers on the car?

Maybe looking for a little more power. Yes I have long tube headers. How much HP do you think I am roughly putting out now?

That's pretty hard to say without knowing more about the engine build, was it built or is it a crate engine?
What compression ratio and what cam? What heads
I'd expect at the wheels on a dyno it should be somewhere in the 375-400 hp range but maybe more.
Motor Trend got pretty big numbers for their build but I'm sure they were at the crank on an engine dyno not the wheels on a chassis dyno.
They also had a more aggressive intake and carb set up the Performer RPM Air Gap and with an 850 double pumper carb.

You could pick up a use intake like this one (Torker) and throw a 750 double pumper on it and get a good bump in seat of the pants power for a lot less money.
These two would set you back less than half the cost of the EFI kit and you can get back most of it selling the intake and carb you have now,

Hey as far as the motor being a build or crate that I do not know there is not a lot of known about this car and build. I have been working on trying to find the person who restored. It sure seems like they but some good parts in it and have done really good work. I would be interested in the intake and Holly double pumper you mentioned. I have found both the intake for 160 used and the carb for 600 basically new.

Hi

Big fan of the street avenger. Keep in mind the carb will need to be tuned especial a used. It may have been played with.

I like the street avenger, its a little more street friendly and comes setup pretty nice right out of the box. My engine is about 350 hp. Nothing super fast. That with a pertronix ignitor she fires right off and idles better then I could get my old 650 Holley to run. Now if you have the budget a dyno tune will be worth it on any carb.

I believe this is a big block intake,I had one just like it on the 427 in my old '69.
I've never seen one on a small block,we called them a twisted Torker back in the day.
