Default New ride

Have wanted a 2nd gen. since I was in junior high. Finally bought a 72 and picking it up today. Movhave Gold, 350 2bbl, auto, cream/white int. all orig. 31,000 miles. I am torn about keeping it factory but if I did decide to put a different intake and 4bbl with some headers on it could I expect some decent hp gains. How hard is it to pick the right set-up. I don't want to drag race just beef it up a little, or not...Can't make up my mind yet. I didn't expect to find an original car so clean and it has me unsure to mess with it or not. Any suggestions???? Thanks...

Default RE: New ride

I'm somewhat of a purist at heart. I'm slowly getting mine back to factory, but, I'm also beefing it up a little too. I managed to get a '79 Z28 T-top 4 spd that was largely unmolested, all the origional factory equipment still intact including the vaccum lines, Check the pics in the members gallery under 1979 Z28 "Project Z" and you'll see what I'm starting with. Although I'm keeping the numbers matching never rebuilt motor, I'm currently building a 300+ HP 327 to use while I build the origional. I plan on leaving mine looking factory, but, I am making a few small changes. I have found that the cars that get the most respect and the most money at auction are the ones that survive intact and unrestored. Unfortunately mine was'nt locked in a time capsule for the last 27 years. so I have a bit of work ahead of me. You hav'nt mentioned if you got a Z28 or an RS. Personally I would suggest keeping her as origional as possible, taking care of the obvious HP concerns ofcourse, do the intake, carb, headers and exhaust first off and you'll like the gains.

With a 2bbl it wont be a Z or RS
I would do what ever you want to do with the car short of cutting the body, and save every thing you take off so it can be put back to factory org when ever you decide to get rid of it
