I wouldn't call them common around here. I rarely see a nice one anymore. Alot of rust buckets and Bondo mobiles. There is one very low mileage one, very nice red Iroc.

I can tell you from first hand experience, they do not care what they do to your car haha. When my 80 caught on fire, pretty much the same thing ran the axe right through the hood, then looked at me and said oh the latch is down here is'nt it,by the time they were done what would have been an easy fix, could have replaced the motor and a few wires and been good, instead they decide because smoke was coming through the dash that hey it must be on fire too,so they soaked down all the interior. They screwed the car up worse than the fire did.Only reason they even got the chance was because a neighbor called them while i was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, panicking, trying to find the damn garden hose haha.

Yeah they're thick as fleas here, and tons of really minty ones too! Of course I see the occasional seller wanting $6-$7k, but they'll never get even a call at that price, no matter how nice it is.

that vid almost made me cry lol...
you should post some pics of the car because i would just try and sell it again first... see if there are any takers.. up here you could easily get 1500 for a car that runs and drives fine...but if i were building a gasser i would want a bigger engine than a 305 just because...

Not actually building a gasser, but a gasser clone. But actually the gas classes didn't allow engines bigger than 331 cubic inches for import sized cars, unless you were racing in A/GS or AA/GS, and even then the rules only allowed 4 dr. Anglia Prefects, and 4 dr. Austins to run in those upper classes. The 301 (327 with 283 crank) was the most popular engine in the small motor gas classes of B/GS or less.
I'd be wasting my time trying to resell the Z28 for more than I am paying since he's been listing it on Craigslist for over a year and nobody bought it. It's probably worth more parted out than all together. I'm sure I could sell the crate motor, 5 spd. and body parts for more than the $1,000, but then I'd just be back where I am looking for a donor car to build the gasser project.

yeah i would def part it out if you decide to sell it since you will most likely get more that way. I'am giving you my 305 and th350 though when i get my 468
