New to me Z28
Went up north for a cruise car show near my wife's brother's home today. We met her brother at the show and he mentioned he still couldn't find a buyer for his 1984 Z28. He's had it on Craigslist several times, and each time dropped the price $500 from the original $2500 price tag. Last time it was $1500 and nobody even showed up to look at it!
It's got a almost brand new 305 HO crate motor in it, with 5 spd., new radials, mags, and T tops. Very clean car, but needs some TLC to clean it up. Anyway, he told me he just wanted it gone, and he'd take $1,000 if somebody would just offer that much! So I offered him the $1,000 he wanted.
Now my dilema begins. I really don't want a 3rd gen Camaro, and I do need a donor car to use the running gear in my Austin gasser project. The Camaro is almost too nice to part out, but I doubt if I could find a better candidate for running gear at such a low price.
I can still afford to slap on some good breathing heads, a cam, and intake to make it come alive in the Austin, and part out whatever I didn't use. My concern is just taking apart a perfectly good Camaro. I just need to think this one over and decide if I can live with myself after I scrap out a decent car. ???
Got time to mull it over, as I wont pick it up for a week or so, and I wont need the parts for months. So what do you guys think? Appreciate any input either way, but regardless I wont keep it. It either goes, or gets to donate to the project, and sell the rest for parts.

Thats a pretty good deal you got it for, great candidate for a donor but like you said it's living with yourself afterwards but if i owned a 71 already i wouldnt care lol, go for it, im sure people will appreciate the parts to. You could always buy that guys Berlinetta for $11,000
Hell, I would try and turn around post it up for 1500 or trades in parts, engine, etc. that you need for your gasser. If it's going to sit for a few days/weeks then might as well try and make some money out of it the easiest way.
Don't do this. http://www.streetfire.net/video/cama...ty_2047309.htm
Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll get it home and drive it a bit to see how it performs, then decide what to do with the car or drivetrain. Just wont drive it too much and catch it on fire! It did have some smoke roll out from the dash once when the tach quit. He said he disconnected it, so no tach now. Maybe he avoided a future fire?!
lol Vall you can't be trusted to go to cruises or car shows haha well I wouldn't worry about parting it out if you want. like the others have said, 3rd gen's are pretty common so it's not like your parting a 70 SS lol
If you want the drivetrain then i would take that out and put it in your gasser and part the rest to recoup as much back as you can
