If you're paying someone to replace the frame rails you'll be extremely lucky to find someone who will do it for $1,000! If they can be patched, then it might cover the cost, but that's tough to know for sure. Unless the whole car is dirt cheap, I'd pass on one that needs rear frame rails.

That looks like a really clean car.Best way to see if the rails are rotted or just rusty,if he would allow you to do it to verify, would be to poke around on them with a flat head screwdriver. They may not be as bad as they look, mine look really bad,but they are still solid. As far as if they do need replaced,i would check around your area and see what a frame shop, resto shop,or body shop would charge to do them, but like i said you may get lucky if all you seen was rust and no holes or big pieces missing.

If the rails need replacing I'd still pass. If they prove to be just surface rust that can be cleaned, neutralized, and painted, then it looks like a decent price.

So i got some pictures i asked him to take of underneath and the rust isnt as bad as i thought it was, the right side just has surface rust, but the left side has a little bit of rot. I think im going to pull the trigger on it hopefully tomorrow, look forward to being a part of the community guys and ill post some pics when i get it

Thanks for all the help

Cool, yeah if it's just a small amount and small area,it would be alot easier and cheaper to get some heavy gauge sheet metal and just cut out and patch the bad areas.
