I'm not in my 50's yet,i'm only 38 but i have to agree. My 80 is a 4 speed and while it is very fun to drive,if i ever buy another camaro it will be an automatic for the ease of use factor. These old style mechanical clutch setups can be pretty stiff, they are not like the newer cars that have the hydraulic assist,so after a while your left leg muscles may be a bit bigger than your right leg is haha.

alright im gonna talk to comp cams get some real proffesional advice, ill post what they sugest for ratios, ect. as far as the tranny goes im gonna find a camaro that already had a 4 gear in it to save myself alot of work, im building this car more for my own personal fun than to race. i bought a 350 block from an old family friend and im gonna use that for this stroker, then drop it in whatever car i get.
You could take the belts completely off, and not even turn the water pump or alternator, and you still wouldn't get close to 45 hp more. I seriously doubt you'd see 10 hp doing this.
on the dyno my engine only had 5hp diffrence than stock pulleys on the dyno.im running under drive march pulleys.but the bad part is they dont cool as well at idle engine gets pretty warm im gonna go back to the regular ones.
I think the electric pump with free up the most power. Nowhere near 45 though. I'd bet 15 total w/ pulleys. As mentioned the pulleys are a trade off. Nothing is free. Start spinning the alt. slower and the charging system will suffer same for the cooling system.
oh wow good to know i was seriously misstaken bout that combo then, um im gonna try to figure out how to get pics up, the body on mine is pretty haggerd, i think im gonna just tear the motor out build a nice no expense spared 383, then get find a camaro with a nice body and 4 speed(just cause there fun) then drop the motor in that. im in vancouver...
