Needs ideas
ill check it out... so my speedo stoped working, so i thought it was the cable, crawled underneath took off the cable put it in a drill chuck and it turned one the speedo... ok not the cable checked the worm gear and the idler gear both mesh together and the cable properly fits in the square slot thing. any clues to why it dnt work???
well it used to be a basic model 267 camaro then the previous owner put the 350 in it so its justr the speedo gauge and feul gauge the rest are just lights but feul does work so do my aftermarket gauges.
Try removing the speedo end. Then just start it up and move the car forward in gear to see if it turns. I'm guessing it wont. You can also try turning the end by hand to see if there's resistance on the tranny end. I bet the driven gear is internally stripped in the square hole, or the drive gear lockring is off and letting it move on the shaft.
ok so ive decided im going to built a 383 stroker im try to design and plan what im going to built in it. im looking for 450hp i what about 6000rpm im almost certain that 202/160 heads are the best for this motor. the part i cant figure out is the cam ratio's rocker arm ratios, and whitch lifters are best.
202 heads are plenty 4 6000 rpms,,, 194s would work fine ,
you need to talk with some one to see if want to use Solid or hydralic lifters
hydralics will work fine 4 6000 rpms also. If you choose solids you will have to maintain these a lot more.do you know if its a cast or steel crank shaft? is the lower end ballanced ?
on the tranny.
I am in my 50s now ( age ) I would run an automatic, but I will admit my 1st 2 Z28s. 1977 & 1980 were both 4 speeds and I loved um. but now I prefer the ease of the auto,,you can make an auto as fast as a stick and the auto is more consistant, After 15 years of drag racing and seeing over 100 cars at the track every week end and only 3-4 cars out of the 100 cars having a stick, the auto is much better for a racing app. but for street use a stick can be fun,
