Intake, cam, and headers. Then aftermarket heads. Or all at once if money permits.

4 speeds are fun, but not necessarily faster. It is a lot of work to retrofit one, especially if you've never done this sort of thing!

Like nomad said cam intake and heads....Have you done an exhaust?

Carb, intake, cam, headers, heads. All matched to each other. Don't go overboard with any one item, or under, as it all needs to match with each other, and the compression of your engine.

well i bought it with the edlebroke 650 thunder series carb im willing to bet he put the matching intake on it with that, like 2 weeks after i bought it when i was gonna start puting money in it i tried getting a hold of the guy for cam specs and general info but he never returned a call... douch. im doing the tranny before the motor im looking for a 4 speed with a a real small "throw" need to reserch some brand and reviews though, i did the exhaust the day i bought it.

Sounds like you need to do some investigation before proceeding. If you've got some performance items already, then list them prior to asking so we don't reccommend something you already have. Check the intake for a maker's name and model.
May want to also pull a valve cover and see what number is on the heads. Lift on the cam can be checked without pulling the engine apart. A dial indicator can read the valve movement on the end of the rocker arm. Duration is a little trickier to get.

Find out what specs you got on the cam...Make sure you check back in with the guys to make sure your parts "flow together"

ie. you dont want a big cam nice intake with a small carb...Making sure your performance parts fit your application is a big thing.

Im sure BB427 will be more than happy to double check your stuff for ya.

Why don't you get a summit catalog and look at packages. They will have heads, a cam, an intake and recommend a carb. They will also approxemate a Hp estimate. If you stay automatic get a torque converter to match your rpm range. BE VERY sure if you want fast or street drivable before you go crazy!
