budget?

intake, ignition and exhaust. that's the cheapest and easiest bang for the buck. you don't have to tear the engine down and they will still work on a new build if you get money down the road to get a new one

you can definitely do that stuff on that budget. MSD is the best ignition, you will need a distributor, a box (preferably their 6AL because it has a rev limiter) and a coil (Blaster 2). you could go with a Holley 650 with Vacuum secondarys and an electric choke (Holleys are the easiest to adjust) and just look for a decent header but remember that if you go the cheapest route, you will DEFINITELY get the cheapest quality. the biggest thing to look for with headers is the thickness of the flange where it bolts up to the block. the thinner it is here, the more apt it is to warp and cause leaks. I always use Hooker

these are all just my opinions of whats best, but opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one

i would start with exhaust. headers, large tubing, low restriction mufflers. it will increase hp, and it just sounds good!

I would start off with an Edelbrock intake, Holly -or- Demon 650 carb, Hooker headers, And a Accel or MSD HEI ignition. And top it off with a K&N filter and Magna Flow exh. This should be within your spending limit and still have some left to play with.

holley 600 cfm vs, weiand stealth high rise intake, .480 lift .300 duration cam, summit headers ... approx. 75 to 100 hp ... approx. $700 bucks including gaskets and lifters. for another $200 msd pro-billet stand-alone distributor. can be upgraded to a box when needed. Sick
