Default Mods/Changes That Decrease/increase Value?

First off, I'm new here and any feedback y'all might have would be a huge help. Let me give you a little of the history on the car.

I had been looking for a little over a year for a "Decent" Z28 from the 70's that was at a reasonable price. The two things I kept seeing were either cars that needed ALOT of work and beat on, or were already redone and WAY out of my price range. I happened to be looking in a local buy & sell paper called the IWANNA. I was looking thru the online edition and noticed a couple of ad's that I was interested in and called them only to be very dissapointed when I went to look at them. I noticed a few days later when I chose to look at ad's that were in a nearby reigon's edition. I read an ad that sounded "To good to be true!" Never the less I called and talked with the seller. He told me that he was the orig. owner and that the miles were correct at 73,340 and that he had all of the paperwork from when he purchesed the car new at the local dealership that used to be in the same town he lived in. Here is a rundown of what the car has:

1979 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta
350ci - 4bbl, 350 Tranny (Auto), Tilt, Air, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Rear Def, Orig. AM/FM Radio (Single dash spkr), all orig. tan deluxe interior. orig. gold polycast wheels, Dark Brown Metallic paint w/gold pinstripes (repainted once in 89), all orig. glass. All paperwork from Orig. sale (dealer invoice, etc.) and build sheet.

In this area it's VERY hard to find such a car in this origional of a condition. Granted it was not the Z28 and it didn't have the T-Tops or the rear spoiler, but it had the powerplant I wanted and the condition was incredible, so I took it home.

This is the first Camaro I have ever owned, I had wanted a "Muscle car" since before I even had a licence but it was never in the cards untill now, in my 30's. I would like to know what kind of things will increase or decrease the value of this car as I do work on it. I am trying to make sure if I replace anything, it is replaced with GM replacement or orig. parts if at all possible. Here are a few things I have replaced or redone.

Headliner & visors recoverd in same color and material as orig. - The orig armrest's had been fixed at some point with an aftermarket kit to fix the pull part of them, so I replaced them with high quality used ones from another Camaro. The headlight & blinker bezel's were in OK condition but I was able to get new old stock GM replacements for them and put them on, I took apart the tail light assembly's and reworked them with new seals and cleaned the lenses, replaced the whitewalls with raised white letter tires, took the Cat off and have a Flowmaster Crossflow 80 series muffler with chrome tips. I also have a new carpet that I ordered to put in since the orig. one has some fading and some very slight wear on the rear hump. All window and drro seals were replaced with Metro SoffSeal reproduction seals.

Some questions that might seem "Stupid" to some of you, but I just have to ask are:

If I DO change the orig. carpet will it change the value?
Since it does not have rear speakers, if I put in a "hidden system" in the glovebox I'd STILL have to cut the rear deck to put 6X9's in.
If anything is added that is NOT on the build sheet, like a spoiler, will this drop the value?

I never thought I would be this **** about this car but I also never expected to find one in such awesome condition. I love the car and DO enjoy it! I just do not want to do any disjustice to this car. It has been VERY hard for me to not go hog wild and customise the hell out of it, but I guess that's what my truck is for right?? lol..

I guess I am very confused as to what I can and can not do to the car that might affect the vale in either direction. It's for enjoyment but also doubles as an investment. Thanks for reading this VERY long post, and all feedback is appreceated!

Here's a few Pix.

congrats on the car, its in excellent shape and looks real nice

now im not an expert but i dont believe changing the carpet will change the value..as long as its the same factory color....and as far as the speakers if its the same as my 79 z you shouldnt have to cut anything they came with 6x9s from factory but make sure you put them in from the bottom not top..and for the spoiler i dont know about changing the value, maybe a little but it sure does make a difference with it on. once again congrats on the sweet car

thats a very nice car, i own a 69 and trust me, you will enjoy every bit of driving your camaro. As far as your carpet situation goes, that should not bother the value at all. I have the orignal carpet in mine and im fixing to replace it as well. If anything it will help the looks and function better than it did before. i would not worry about it. Good luck

Keep the body an original color.

Keep the interior in original condition. Don't be afraid to put an aftermarket cd player head unit in, don't be afraid of performance modifications. Just make sure you keep all parts so you can return it to stock at some point. As long as every modification you do is reversable, I wouldn't worry at all..
