I currently don’t own a gen 2 Camaro, but I am saving up to buy one. My perspective project is to swap the 755 hp LT5 into an old gen 2 and turbo boost it, which has yielded 1,488hp and 1,011lb/ft of torque for others.

So, my question is, is this possible? What significant hurdles will I have to jump over? Is it worth it? What year Camaro should I buy?

What transmission should I go with? I can’t seem to find anything that is built for an LS that can handle that kind of power. I would like to go manual.

At near 1500 HP the 2nd gen body is just there for looks. You will need a tubular chassis with a 4 link rear so just look at the different years and see what you like. My 74 tore where the roof meets the quarter and cracked the windshield on both sides from a 350 with around 300hp to the wheels with tires that would stick. Keep in mind this is a unibody, the frame is sheet metal.

As for the transmission, adapter plates are cheap. We would need to know what you plan on doing with the car. There are always the trans that came with the ZR1 or ZL1. Which does brink up the point that a ZL1 LE1 would be a much better car and with all the custom parts you are going to need to not die in this thing your better off just buying one of those. It would be cheaper also stronger and have all the safety goodies that will keep you alive.

You do know that the LT5 755 version is with a supercharger? So you are going to add a turbo to a supercharger engine? I was under the impression that anything over a 1100 hp is risky on a shock LT5.
