Where can I find info for Z28 color information and production numbers?
I had an 80 Z28 but sold it and I'm thinking about getting another.

I googled till my brain is googly. I cant find production numbers for a 79 Z28, the data plate goes like this;

44R 11L 11U 41A L
A51 . . Z28
GE1 180303

 

11L (lower maybe?) 11U (upper maybe?) Color code 11 is white in 79.
80 codes:11white 15silver 19black 24brightblue 29darkblue 40limegreen 51brightyellow57gold 67darkbrown 72red 76darkclaret 79redorange 80bronze and 84charcoal

 

44R - Green Standard Vinyl Interior
11L - White Paint Code Lower Car
11U - White Paint code Upper Car
41A - Should be color of Z28 stripe, but I couldn't find this number listed. 42A was a green stripe.
L - Lacquer Paint
A51 - Bucket Seats
Z28 - Z28
GE1 - Steering Column and Instrument Panel (no explanation of codes were given)

According to the Camaro White Book, there were 84,877 Z28 Sport Coupes built in 1979. The production totals do not break down the colors to show how many white Z28's there were, but there was a total 35,516 white Camaro's built in 1979 model year.

 

Thanks, @peterpar I think that is the closest I got. It makes cents to put a green stripe on a white with a green interior car. It is also a stick car, I'll bet this car would be stunning.

 

If you're wanting to know more detail about how the car was equipped and how many others like it were built, you might try the Compnine Website. I think their databanks go back into the 70's.

 

This is the Vin listed 1087L9N614619 but might be 1Q87L9N614619. Apparently, that site only does 17 character Vins.
