Wink Ignition Switch Replacement

1976 Camaro LT
350
Automatic

Needing to change out the ignition switch. Can someone provide me with the normal steps to get to the switch and change it out? I may go ahead and change the key lock cylinder also, so any steps on that would be appreciated also. Will any of these steps be different if the car has tilt steering?

Thanks a bunch.

Two different operations to change the switch, vs. change the lock/tumbler for the key. The tumbler for the key is in the column, and a rod goes down to the ignition switch which mounts outside on the column.
If you want to replace the ignition switch it's easier to drop the column bolts and trim, then unplug the ignition switch, and remove the bolts securing it to the column. Replace in reverse and bolt the column back up.
The key assembly requires you to insert the key and turn it partway on, then insert a paper clip or small pin punch to release the key assembly and pull it out.

Default Ignition switch

So basically, the ignition switch is mounted on top of the steering column just behind the lower dash - right?

Yes. Here's a diagram for the tilt unit. #61 is the switch:
