Nope, you wont use a 4" cowl hood and get air cleaners under the hood too with dual quads and any rise at all in a manifold! I have a single quad on a Edelbrock torker and I can't use any 14" aircleaner as they don't clear the hood.
I have a air cleaner I had to custom build to fit my cowl hood, and it's still so tall that my custom bowtie retainer nut wont fit under the hood. I had to get a regular old 1/4-20 nut that was thin enough to clear by about 1/4"!
My custom air cleaner is dropped lower than the top of the carb, and utilizes a 12" filter that fits inside the opening of the cowl hood, and has a rubber seal around the base to seal to the hood, similar to original factory air cleaners that used low profile maniflods.
The opening in the hood is wide enough for the 14" element, but with the Torker, the back of the air cleaner hits the opening as it closes. If the hood lifted straight up, I might clear with about 1/2" all around. Not much for an engine that can torque and hit the hood!

On the subject of security. I think ANY custom car is liable to get stolen or stripped if it draws attention and is alone for long! I never leave my car alone overnight, or anywhere for long, except for cruise in's where everyone watches everyone else.

well i can get a low rise dual quad set up from edelbrock? or i could go for a 6" cowl hood..would that work?

what size cowl does your hood have?

yeah true..any car that draws attention has a good chance of getting stolen but im gonna keep mine in a garage from fall to spring and only drive it around in the summer...but when i do drive it around i dont think i will venture far from it..but it sounds like the tunnel rams can be a hassle and hard to get tuned right..

I can't answer your questions as I have no idea what height your engine/manifold will end up at. I know the stock engines had pretty low rise intakes, so you'll need to know how much taller the intake you buy is, prior to purchase. Once you know the difference, then you can estimate if it will fit.
My steel cowl hood is 3.75" tall, but my old cowl hood is 4" tall, and it fit fine because it didn't have the small round opening, rather one large opening the size of the cowl.
If you're interested I'll make you a smoking deal on my old hood. We're close so you could just bolt it on and drive home!

^^^ make sure its a wet shot...

and a 750cfm carb would be better off for more air intake from the nitrous...

and just curious what transmission are you runnin.?

Sound like my set up by the cam is smaller and mines a 350
which it seems reasonable to get 30 out of it so id say 480

Nitrous!!! Its there only when you want it . Hypereutectic Flat Top Pistons Change to forged just to be safe or dont go over like 125 shot. What Edelbrock Air-Gap Intake do you have? It might be ok to run
