A lot depends on the cars set up. If your running a good header/exhaust combo they will sound a bit better then just a cheap exhaust. Keep in mind it is going to be loud!

I run headers with 3" pipe into Dynomax race bullet mufflers.here is the link. http://www.jegs.com/p/Dynomax/Dynoma...49870/10002/-1

The exhaust is alittle on the loud side but I don't drive the car much. If it was my daily driver I would have left the 40 series flow-masters on it....

Sounds pretty good to me...almost scary sounding and when you get into it then it really comes alive.

Glass packs. Ugh! Way too loud, and when they begin to plug up with carbons from your engine they'll get even louder! You'll spend a lot of time getting pulled over by the law, and then eventually buying another set of good mellow mufflers. Most glasspacks don't really burn out, they just plug up, and when they do the result is they sound like straight pipes.

How do they get plugged up? I know the fiberglass packing can become less effective as they become more used.
Unless they're installed the wrong way (backwards), then I could see them getting plugged up eventually.

Default Mufflers

I have a set of dyno flow mufflers on my 77 camaro sounds to much like a truck muffler to me inside the car but people outside the car say its sounds awesome listening to it as its going down the road,IF I had to do it again i would go with the flow masters they have a deeper tone to them.

I have glasspacks on my 87, 305, sounds great.

I think you should get them, i really prefer glasspacks over Magna Flow and Flowmaster stuff.

How? Pretty simple. Your exhaust emmissions are full of contaminants like unburned fuel, and oil residue, which hits the hot muffler and sticks to the inside surface. I've disected some old glasspacks when I was young, just to see why they became so loud. The fiberglass is absorbent, so this residue is absorbed into the surface of the exposed glass. Almost every one looked like new in the packing, but the packing adjacent to the sound deadening vents was plugged with exhaust grunge. Once that happens it's impossible to absorb any sound, so it just travels through unaltered.

Possibly those may have been installed the wrong way, with the exhaust blowing into the louvers?
